Jobs at Lux
Internship

Lux Art Insitute’s internship program provides college juniors and seniors, recent graduates and graduate students with in-depth training and valuable work experience in an intimate non-profit museum environment. Student interns will have a unique experience supporting all departments of the organization and will gain valuable exposure to all aspects of museum administration. While at Lux, student interns will be mentored by Lux staff and will participate directly in the development and implementation of Lux programming.

In the Curatorial Department, interns will perform research on artists using our artist database and files, learning art history and current trends in the art world along the way. As support for our Artist Residency program, interns will be in direct contact with artists and assist the staff with preparing exhibitions.

In the Education Department, interns will assist with the Valise Project, our off-site education outreach program and Luxcursion, our on-site program. Interns will help develop projects for Luxcursion and lead art lessons with students in the Copley Classroom, work directly with Valise Project curriculum and research new Valise artists.

In the Development Department, interns will research grant opportunities, learn valuable grant writing skills, assist with donor events and fundraisers, as well as support staff on the membership and capital campaign projects. Interns will assist with putting together press packets and press releases and will support staff at openings and press events.

Qualifications: Junior or senior undergraduate, recent graduate or graduate student with excellent written and verbal communications skills. Must be computer literate, organized and have excellent attention to detail. All candidates should have an art history or studio art background and an interest in museum practice and the visual arts.

Hours: Part-time two to three days a week, hours to be determined. Stipend available.

To Apply: Please send cover letter, resume and writing sample to info@luxartinstitute.org. Email with questions about the position, no calls please.
